20 Erdbeersorten im Vergleichsanbau Organic Eprints
Regnat, Rudolf.

Consumer Reaction to the «Flavour Group Concept» to introduce Scab Resistant Apple Varieties into the Market. «Variety-Teams» as a Further Development of the Concept Organic Eprints
Weibel, Franco; Leder, Alfred.
A tool to ease the market introduction of scab resistant apple varieties in supermarkets, is the so-called «Flavour Group Concept (FGC; Weibel and Grab, 2000) that has been developed by FiBL and «Coop» (second biggest supermarket retailer of Switzerland) already in 1995. The FGC is providing to the buyers additional information on the specific flavour direction of that "unknown" apple cultivar in front of them (mild to sweet; spicy-tart; predominantly tart). In 2002 a consumer behaviour study was undertaken by «IHA/GfK-Switzerland» Institute to evaluate the consumer response to the FGC. The results reveal that 36 % of the persons interviewed at the point of sale considered additional information on the flavour direction of the apple cultivars as...

Erfahrungen mit neuen feuerbrandresistenten Unterlagen in Süddeutschland Organic Eprints
Ruess, Franz.
Fireblight (Erwinia amylovora) was detected on rootstocks in several apple orchards in Baden-Württemberg. In Germany the mostly used rootstocks on apple ‘M9’ and ‘M26’ are known to be susceptible to fire blight. Therefore the LVWO Weinsberg participated in the “European Cornell-Geneva rootstocks trial” which is a common experiment of seven research institutes over whole Europe. Six fire blight resistant or tolerant root-stocks from the Geneva® breeding program were tested in comparison to ‘M9’ (Type T337 and Pajam 2). The variety was ‘Golden Delicious’ and the trees were planted in 2001 . An outstanding new rootstock was ‘Geneva® 11’. The tree size was similar to ‘M9’ (above 7% more growth in comparison to ‘T337’). Besides that the influence on the fruit...

Weibel, Franco; Suter, Francisco; Tschabold, Jean-Luc; Häseli, Andi.

Organic Eprints
Weibel, Franco; Tschabold, Jean-Luc; Suter, Francisco; Häseli, Andi.

Prove di confronto varietale di piccoli frutti in coltivazione biologica Organic Eprints
Cavallo, Luca; Gamba, Ursula; Spagnolo, Sandra; Pinna, Massimo.

Resistenzzüchtung in Dresden-Pillnitz - Der Apfel Organic Eprints
Peil, A.; Lesemann, S.; Dunemann, F.; Höfer, M.; Flachowsky, H.; Hanke, V.-M..
The Institute of Fruit Breeding has a long tradition in breeding resistant apple cultivars. Systematic resistance breeding started in the 1930 ties in Müncheberg. Material developed in Müncheberg was transferred in the 1970 ties to the Institute for Fruit Research, the antecessor of the Institute of Fruit Breeding. Based on this material, a couple of multiple resistant cultivars were generated. The time schedule for combining biotic and abiotic resistant traits which demonstrates the long-lasting period necessary for systematic resistance breeding is given. An overview of resistant cultivars of Dresden-Pillnitz and the respective resistant traits is presented. This assortment of cultivars was developed to provide a resistant cultivar for each ripening...
